That towards the end of next month I am finally going to have the next surgery on my knee. Granted nobody wants to be cut open but almost 2 3/4 years ago my knee was replaced and I tried to tell the doctor that it wasn't right 2 years ago. After two years of telling both the doctor and my employer that I needed to have something done because it was hurting all of the time they finally got me a new fitted knee brace when my knee swelled more than twice it's normal size and wouldn't go down for a couple weeks. Finally the doctor realized that there was a legitimate problem and decided that a half revision was needed. That just didn't sit right with me since he was reluctant to even look at it and also since it's a work Comp. case. So I paid for a consultation with a knee revision specialist myself to find out that the last doctor actually used the wrong kind of knee for the injury that I had. The knee that was used is a nonconstrictive knee and relies on the two remaining ligaments to tighten up and hold the knee together. Problem with that knee is that all of the soft tissue in my knee was either torn and repaired or stretched beyond shrinking back so every time I take a step my knee comes apart then pops back together. The Specialist that I saw said that he will be using a knee that will be at least partially constrictive if not hinged. It's only taken me 4 months of holding out and waiting out the city's legal offices to finally get their ducks in a row and let me use the surgeon that I want to use instead of the doctor that screwed me up last time...which is who they wanted me to see again. All that said, I am both stoked to hopefully be able to walk straight again for the first time in almost a decade and I am bummed to have to go under the knife for the 7th time on this knee.
