This evening I came home from work, the kids were off doing their own thing in their rooms, I poured myself a beer and put on Tom Petty's Damn The Torpedoes. I so rarely get to play music in the living room, the tv's usually on.
My 13-year-old daughter screeched at me to turn down the music...
I thought it was the parents who were supposed to tell their teenagers to turn down the music...

I was really glad when our son moved out. His bedroom was right across the hall from my music room, and he always told me to turn down if I was playing too loud.

Now my music room is his old bedroom. :thumb:

It's at that moment the words "listen and learn" become appropriate...

When we were young we want to be rebellions.
But now we have the best excuse - see, your old Dad/Mom is almost deaf and just bear with me and have mercy, thx.
At that point I always crank it up a notch and keep on rocking.
If that doesn´t help I start to sing(rebel yell way xD) and she´s leaving straight.
My wife is another story - more on that later xD

    Life is good,

I live in an apartment with stricted rulers against the noise.
Usually I aint play loud than a smartphone ring.

But yesterday my wife were off for shopping, my neighborhood were off too, and I played on ten.
It was magic. So much longer I didnt play then!

Yeah! ACDC strikes louder!!! ..."women at the left...women at the right...TNT I'm dynamite!!!"

When my kid screetches at me about something, I just gently remind him of the pecking order.

I would have turned it up, and shouted back: "WHAT? I can't hear you over my loud music that I'm playing in my living room". :D

I recall my then 18-year old daughter running from across the house and yanking the ear buds out of my ears while scolding me with regard to volumes I was casually listening at. Kids these days...

    My house.
Last night I showed my son how to play Hollywood Waltz by the Eagles.

Today at lunch my wife said he practiced it for two hours.

I told him he must sing if he wants to be musically useful. He is working on it.

Role reversals are tricky. When my mom needed me to take her shopping I'd tell her, "stay here with me. Don't go running off " Do you have any idea how fast an 85 year old woman with an oxygen tank can move if you turn your back for just a second ?

Some stuff just don't sound right unless it's cranked up.
