I also want to throw something out about the OP of this thread.

When I first heard Monte play, he was playing a resonator in an odd tuning. His skills were rudimentary at best...but there was something there...you could see it in his vids and hear it... Like Omar, he did not bring any ego to the door. His love of music was on his sleeve. The other day in another thread, he gave a dead-on musical/theoretical explanation of what was going on. Dead frigging on. He recent posted a bossa nova tune that wasn't possible 3 years ago. He too has come a long way. :)

Not for the wombat or anyone listening to its distress. Seriously, I think Roger is a great player. There, I hope that appeases the pitbull from down under, for my sake.

Thank you Alan. I appreciate your kind words so much! It really makes me feel so happy hearing positive and sincere comments on my playing. They keep me focus more on learning music and guitar :)

I don't have a very long history here but yeah, I was impressed with Monte's range on the fingerboard on his last video (he's since taken it down).

The last time I had kippers (I eat herring all the time but mostly pickled) was while trying to breathe some life into a 30 year old autopilot on the ferry between Athens and Crete, must be 12 years ago... I remember arriving in the evening and after we left Athens I sat with the captain and officers for dinner, this amazing Greek dinner with a million little dishes. When we had finished eating they all got instruments out and started playing and singing. I asked if they did that every night and they said "No, but you're not here every night".

Good times and an amazing Greek welcome!

Rafa cool blowing a stream of bluesy-jazz riffs.

I was going to comment on everyone's tracks individually but there are too many. So I'll say awesome playing by all, including Rogina. It was great to see Chris putting up a very cool track and looking forward to more. Obviously I had a down day today so I clogged up the thread a bit but back to work tomorrow. Ah the joys of retirement.

Hey Monte I wish you the best in your new adventure and hope you move closer to your goals my friend!
Your commitment and enthusiasm for playing music is inspirational.
In that vein here is my attempt at this .
I’m posting it without listening, because if I did listen to it first I would’ve ended up deleting it .
At least I have the enthusiasm part down pat .

Thanks man. I'll be posting my Improv revisited threads, but this one was a one-off for my friend. :)

    Thanks Roger !
I’m looking forward to listening to your take on this .
I avoided listening to all the submissions to avoid being influenced by them.
It appears that I have a lot to listen to after work tonight .
Monte sure packed the house !!!

...doors closed, lights off, looks like everyone's gone. Man, this place is a mess. Looks like they really blew the lid off this joint last night - what a party. I'm gunna rummage around, see what I can find before anyone gets back. Hope those crazy guitarist didn't set the alarm...oops
