We're headed to Chicago tomorrow just for pleasure so of course I'm looking at CL. I find a listing for a Fender Mexican Strat for $200 but as usual it looks like a Squier that's had the large headstock sanded. The saddles also don't say Fender, they say CG. :whistling: There's also no truss rod adjustment visible so I ask if it has a side adjustment, yes it does. Turns out it's a missionary selling it, it has a Warmoth neck with compound 10-16 radius and Fender locking tuners, Callaham bridge, and 65RI pickups. Hope it works out as planned. Sold my Squier VM yesterday for $200 so that also worked out well.

looks like a warmoth sticker under the springs too.
that looks like a pretty good guitar, except the low E looks really close to the edge.

I think it's the camera angle. Easy fix either way.

"Is the truss rod adjustment on the side on the side of the neck?" It's that information that started the rest falling into place, I'd say. Until then, it was just a cheap guitar trying to be a proper Fender.

The sad part is probably the only way to realize that value is to part it out. I bought and sold a beautifully made Warmoth guitar and lost a fair bit of money.

The only other way is to keep the bloody guitar and play it! :D:D:D

I'm serious. It probably punches way above its market value as an instrument.

He's a missionary and agreed to meet me tomorrow so I'm guessing he's a man of his word. :thumb:

    Callaham and Warmoth...Indeed!
But @Lonn , do you really think you should be discussing it and its location publicly? I were you man, I'd delete this thread;)

Hmmn. Worst non-transaction I ever declined to get involved in was with a man who claimed to be a Reverend. The deal was, I would export him the goods, and then a man in England who owed him some money would pay it to me instead of him. What could possibly go wrong? ("No. I haven't heard from him either. It is so sad that he has let you down...")

However, the guitar you found was so under described, it's probably all good. :thumb:
