Bit late to this thread, so it’s Tele Thursday...

I have a PV52 but everyone knows what they are like, so here’s my homebuild.

One piece swamp ash body, Wudtone finish, vintage Schaller bridge, Texas specials, 5-way switching, extra thick scratch plate. Zebra wood neck (I think- can’t really remember) medium jumbos, 12 inch radius. Weighs about 6.5 lbs.

Edit: looking at the pics it might be a two piece body, but I don't think it ruins the tone...

EDIT - I see my writing didn't come up when I posted, so here it is -

On the left is the first of these I got, my Oly White Am Spcl. Outstanding guitar, the quintessential tele. Love the shape of this neck, and the stupid big frets are just easy to bang around on. Sounds awesome with the Cheetah set I put in, despite the fact that we all found out they probably come out of a muddy hole in the ground in China and not California as the hype led us to believe. Flipped the control plate, and put on the compensated brass saddles, but can never remember which brand they are. Love this guitar, not afraid to play it out, scratch it , ding it, let someone else play it, a workhorse and an all around great guitar.

Then I got the 2014 channelbound. Love this thing. Oiled neck feels amazing and I got use to the compound radius just about instantly. The tummy tuck in the back makes it snug right in too, which makes it feel lighter, even if it isn't much. Kinda would have preferred the sonic blue to the Dakota red, but when you buy used for a good price, complaining is silly. This guitar sounds amazing too, pups are a good mix of punk punchy and hillbilly twang, love to play it. Played it at my wedding.

Then I scored the 2008 Candy Cola AM Std. Did a trade for it, something I was never playing. Cool guitar, just nothing really that noteworthy about it I guess. Sounds good, plays good, just not as comfy as the 2014 or as much attitude as the Am Spcl. Nothing negative to say about it, just a bog standard tele I guess. Might keep it, might end up selling it, not sure. Honestly, one of the coolest things about it is the factory chainsaw case. Yeah, you can't put all your crap in the little case, but it's just so nice to sling it around. If the guitar goes, might get a generic case to send it off in.

Then as most of you know, I spent a chunk of my tax refund plus traded a MIM strat for this 2013 custom shop closet classic. Pretty cool guitar. Oiled neck feels pretty good, but with total objective honesty, not better than the one on the 2014. Sounds great, but honestly, not better than the American Special or the Dakota. Love the way it looks. Kind of wish it had the tummy tuck like the Dakota. Lot of bread tied up in this thing and although I like it, really not more than the special which I got for about 1/5th the cost, or the Dakota which I got for about 1/3 the cost. Also I would be hesitant to play this out where with the special I don't even think about it, and the Dakota I don't worry about it much. And it's really not any nicer to play. Guess I'm almost convincing myself in writing this that if I can get my money out of it, maybe a little extra for my time and trouble, I wouldn't be too sad to see it go. Stupid maybe, but for me, one of the coolest things about this guitar is the set of Cruz Tools that came with it. If this thing goes, I will buy a set to have in my gig bag.

I play the American Special the most, then the Dakota, then the closet, then the candy.

Noticed on my 4, only the Am Spcl has recessed string ferrules. Any other American made teles have recessed ferrules?

If it’s a two piece I don’t see it... unless it’s offseam and the bass side is the smaller piece.

Yeah I think that's the seam (from the photo anyway). I'll have a closer look today. It's a few years ago when I put it together and I can't remember - it doesn't bother me because I bought the body to be as light as possible regardless.
