I've been getting involved in our local jam scene lately (it's vibrant).
For those who are in the know, which jam tunes REALLY work:

Well known tunes (no deep album cuts lol)
Easy for everyone to play without ever having played it before
    popular with the audience
fun for the players to stretch their chops

    Thanks !

No I mean of one of those events you were at. I think I've seen it advertised around here.

Sorry I have no videos of the jam sessions I'm going to. They are pub jams with drums, amps, smallish PA w/monitors. Not usually any soundman or mic'd equipment.

Shaky Ground, one chord with a fairly easy to learn riff. It almost always get the crowd going.

Every Jam I go to has at least 2 out of those 3 :)
I've never sat down and learnt any of them but I've played them so many times at jams I know them inside out.

    I forgot that one :)

The band I play in play mainly rock originals, but we always have a section where a couple of guys come up and jam (normally harmonica) and we end up playing these songs. The crowd love it and it's what they remember, so I guess it works. Our singer hates it because she has to leave the stage and these songs get the biggest reaction.
