Hey folks, been awhile since I lasted posted on here. How is everyone?

Kind of in the market for a new strat. I say kind of because I'm not sure if I want a new guitar or a new amp. I have narrowed down my two choices of strat to either the Jeff Beck or the Stevie Ray. Both are the same price both would have to be ordered from an online retailer as my local shop isn't exactly a place I like to go. What say you?

The pickguard is the deal killer on the SRV. :)

there are tons of used JB's

I made a clone with an '06 JB neck and an early Strat Plus body in vintage white that had turned yellow and I think it's as good a modern strat as there is.

JB or a Deluxe would work.

Why exactly do you want one of these two?
Edit. I'm asking because it's hard to say what guitar is better than another one if you've got nothing to go by.
Also, getting a cheaper one is a very, very valid option.

Well I can’t speak for all of them but mine works real good and don’t bother me at all... but I guess 25 years of picking around on something kinda does that

No real reason beyond I liked the look of these 2 in particular, and I already have 2 mexican strats.

In that case, is the JB green or White?

You an always get another white or sunburst (like the SRV) MIM Strat, but SFG is something Special.

The SFG of course. The rosewood board looks especially nice with that colour. And the reason you said; black, white and burst are all pretty common.

A Classic Vibe would hardly be a substitute for a Beck or SRV, since those guitars have relatively large necks for Strats and the CV has a relatively small neck compared to most Strats.

They have very different necks and very different pickups. I'd highly recommend getting your hands on them to check them out if you at all can, even if you're not going to buy in person.

I personally like the chunky neck on the SRV and like having the Texas Specials in my arsenal, although I wouldn't want them to be my only Strat pickups. I've never been too keen on the noiseless pickups on the JB, but I do like a contoured heel.

I vote for an older Jeff Beck Strat (‘97 or earlier, I think) with Lace Sensors.
