He did say 4 JB Guitars. I would really love to check out the Firebird 1.

I'm thinking that Gene Simmons and KISS hold the patent for over-merchandising and it feels unseemly to me, but it's the modern age - if somebody wants to license your name to put on a nudie pen your manager will most likely give the go-ahead.

I don't blame the guy one bit. He knows it'll all go away some day - let him have his retirement plan.

I'd rather buy Joe Bonamassa merch than be forced to listen to Florida Georgia line any day.

Until there is a Bonamassa casket, I think KISS will still reign supreme.

Joe knows what he is doing, and frankly he will leave quite the mark on the next generation of guitar players.

I like the guy, I find him human and he also seems like he would be very approachable...

he lives a simple life, and he jokes about it all the time. all he claims to do is play guitar and watch The simpsons, I can nod my head to that..

Gotta love the Les Paul signature models...a signature model of a signature model.

So, if I became famous enough playing it, there could one day be the "Mississippi Kid-Joe Bonamassa-Les Paul" model from Gibson...I'd have them put robot tuners on as a feature.

I think his extensive gear collection may qualify as his retirement plan. He cherry picks some of the best stuff, tweed amps, old guitars.

He seems like a decent guy, no skeletons in his closet. He dresses cleanly and speaks well. All attractive qualities given what most stars are up to these days.

Yeah, I've seen lots of ripping on JB on this site and others for whatever reason, but I read an interview with him recently and liked what he had to say. He came off as a pretty good guy, seemed genuine, and yes...humble. Personally I don't think you can really argue with the guy's guitar skills.

The over-merchandising comes off a bit grandiose, but as was said above, his marketing people are clearly all over it and if the stuff is selling, then why not? Chinese people need jobs too. :D

There was never a musician with more gear and more talent that as an artist had nothing to say.

Nice guy; decent; smart; savvy businessman (or he at least shopped for the very best people and consultants to turn him into a consumer product); works very hard.

As an artist? There's nothing there.
