My strat's D string broke around 2-3 weeks ago. I didn't have the time to change it. It's been staying like that since. Would it damage the guitar?

I do not think that on an electric guitar a missing D string would cause any concern.

Now on my Rickenbacker 12 string with Pyramid flat wounds they exert A LOT of tension on the skinny neck with two truss rods pulling the other way. Whenever I change strings on that I wear protective eyewear waiting for the neck to explode!!

Are you worried about the neck tension? I will not get damaged.

If you don't play the guitar it won't matter. I play with all 6 of the strings.
