This is a '77 LP Custom.... checking it out here. The pickups, the neck. Its very easy to play...but very heavy!

yea I will do some cleaner playing on it...my first default is heavy :whistling: helps me get used to the feel...strings etc.

The neck is strange to look at when your playing a LP and I generally prefer rosewood. But never played a maple LP before and I actually feel like its' easier to play. On a Strat I dont like the feel of the maple though. Its weird. Once I got used to the look...it actually looks good with the natural body to me.

And its heavy. Even sitting it pulls down..lifting the neck so thats something to get used to. Not sure of the sound of it yet....need to play more.

I think it looks badass, but that heaviness can wear on you after a while. I gave up a really good one because it was just too dang heavy.

I haven't played every single one out there, but I have played a few in the long ago.

IF you like it, who cares what we say?

What do you call heavy? 25th Anniversary Strat heavy or more?

I love natural finished Les Pauls but never seen a Custom. That's beautiful.

What weight is it out of interest?

I dont care really. Just interested in what people think of it since its somewhat unique. ...not going to determine what I do. I have it for a while so I can live with it and see.

It seems to be about 11 or 12 lbs. Probably need a strap sitting down.

12 pounds, that's a bit hefty...play it for a song or two then swap it out.

I think it would look better, or less weird, without the pickguard

Not something I would keep unless I wanted it for the uniqueness

I'm too old for a heavy guitar so I would pass on it

...you really make it scream Brian

I believe all the Gibson maple necks were 3 piece back then, but you can't see the seams clearly on most finishes. That was one of the big deals that Gibson made in the early 1980s - a return to 1-piece mahogany necks from the 3-piece maple necks.

That is a very cool LP - a real period piece from the mid-to-late 70s. As long as you can take the weight I would keep it.

Here is a little more laid back with less gain. Still gonna do something clean. You get used to weight the more you play....have to find the sweet spot sitting , where its more balanced
