That is true and I agree there are many good and great ones on the market.
Esp. those Italian made transformers for the JTM45 and JCM800 are absolutely stunning and maybe sound even better than most of the original ones.

    All the best,
    Robin

My 800 has a drake xformer.
My caps have been changed, but they were blue lcr.
I have never seen green ones.

LCR had a special series(green Aluminium) made for Marshall and other green caps had been made by Plessey, UK.
But they are rare, no question.

    All the best,
    Robin

Yes that is the original mount holes , you can see the outline of the bracket, looks like the PT mounting bracket

    Don´t change a thing.
Those "brown" ones are really rare and just produced for a very short time.
They changed the stuff because it happened so fast with the discoloring.
It is a part of the history of Marshall amplifiers and you have one of those.
Well, most probably without the correct transformer.
But you can still get those transformers from the original supplier.

    All the best,
    Robin

Never knew that , thx. My buddy had one back in the day , it was brown. Thought it was weird then ????

I’ll probably pull the original and put it up , build another board and do the check

My old 4010 had the brown grill cloth as well (I liked it!), but suit yourself that way... I would leave it tho. *OR* -- if you want it to match, maybe you could simply stretch the check right over the brown (if it'll fit) so you can remove it easily in the future.

I will pull the original board , what the brown cloth attaches to , and put it up. I will make another face board and cover with the check and put it in the head box. I’ll post pics

Some good feed from you all , I learned a few things

Since we are talkin Marshall, what’s the scoop on the Marshall labeled V30’s ?

I’ve read that they are stock Celestion V30’s - diff label

I’ve read that they are “voiced” V30’s per Marshalls needs

I will go ahead and warn you like a member of the classic cougar (muscle cars not older ladies) when referring to transmissions ans trannys. Don't make me post a Rocky Horror era Tim Curry pic. Just kidding. I don't want to see what pops up when searching for that one.

One of the best guitarists I ever played with had a channel switching 800 with a snakeskin covering. That amp sounded great no matter what you plugged into it. Congrats on your score!!!!!
