It was my plan to retire in Escambia county but it is for this reason that I did not .

all my friends in destin and fort walton beach are fine. it didnt hit there as hard as it did farther east.
Central VA to the shore under tornado watch until 9PM. Flash flood warnings too. Time to go get the generator out again and get ready. Looks like center of storm will pass over tidewater.
The Weather Channel now has clips with music... sheesh!

There's not much you can say after seeing that amount of destruction.
My boss and his wife just took off to Elkton for the weekend .They might get wetter than we will. Moms side of the family is from that area but I wouldn't know any of them if they were standing beside me
The power of water. Yes there is wind damage but it looks like the majority was storm surge destruction. Sheesh.

I did see pictures of other areas that did have significant wind damage. But those aerial shots you can see the destruction of the storm surge. It reminded me of a tsunami.
No matter which force of nature a hurricane uses, a lost home is a lost home. My prayers go out to them all.
unbelievable.. i only lost my chimney and some shingles and my crappy shed collapsed...not a window broken , even in my van... my whole backyard had privacy fence and apparently none of the wood hit my windows....my home was maybe a mile or 2 east of the eye...i am so unbelievably lucky....

I grew up in this area and my hometown of Lynn Haven , just west of PC and Tyndall AFB is devastated...
