Retail price on these here in Australia in $1549. It's shame that they are only 21 frets, as it would be close to perfect.

I'd love to know where I could by a string lock like the one you have there on the headstock. It looks like an easier option to fit one of these rather than routing the shelf for the lock nut, if I decide to go the parts-o-caster option.

I heard the mark up was insane over there, but wow, double the cost?!! That makes no sense at all. Especially since, as of yesterday, one American dollar was equivalent to $1.32 in Australian currency.

That just blows, as I can attest, the Standard HSS FS are really nice, well built guitars. If they weren't, I wouldn't have two of them.

Yep, lots of extra people who have to make their piece of the pie, before anything even gets to a retail store here in Australia, such as shipping/freight companies, wholesalers, distributors. It would still be cheaper for me to purchase one of those from the US, and get it shipped over.

That pair does look really nice!

I wound up buying an OEM one from Reverb for $120 for my System 1 and I never even installed it on the guitar.

They aren't cheap for the originals, but I'm pretty sure you can get aftermarket ones that are made to fit for around $40-$50.

I used one like it when I out three Floyd on my Jackson. Because I just wanted to make it close to the original design with a JT-6 bridge.

That's a nice one. The bridge is actually a Kahler Steeler, not the Spyder. The Steeler was Kahler's version of the Original Floyd Rose design made out of cold rolled steel. The Spyder was their own design even though it said "Floyd Rose Licensed" - everyone who had a double-locking bridge/nut system had to obtain a license from Mr. Rose until the patent expired in the early 2000s.

For reference here is the Spyder:

    Here: https://www.whammyparts.com/index.php/fender-japan/system-1

BTW, as an owner of 2 system one MIJ Contemporary guitars, it's a great tremolo system. Once you get it set up it's totally stable with dive bombing and pull ups.

I also have a kahler 2520 equipped MIJ Contemporary and it's pretty good, but not quite as good as the System 1's.

I would look for a Dave Murray. Its one of their best signature models and comes with a killer pickup selection.

I bet if you search hard enough you might find one for sale somewhere, but it wont be cheap. they are fairly rare.
