    Hello everyone :whistling:

Got this never used MJT Relic Stratocaster body and I don`t know what year it`s meant to be from.
I think 1958-59 or early 60`s Fender era? But I think I will build from my own personal preferences and taste. What you guys suggest to do?

How about 1959! Do you have a neck to go with it?

I believe this would made a fine '58-'70 replica.

No. I live in Norway and there is no rosewood for sale atm... But alot for maple necks. So for now I will go for Maple and if I see rosewood for sale or CITES changes by time I may change.

They started with 3 burst in -58 so you can slap a maple neck on it and create a -58 mid -59 model.

yeah, do you think a 3ply mint green guard or an 50s white single ply guard is more correct?

It was a transition era so any of them would work.

58 with the slightly faded red ring. 59 would be okay too. So maple or rosewood would do it.

So I recently picked up an MJT body as well (attached), and from what I'm able to tell they source their bodies from Wildwood Mfg, and that the bodies with the traditional pickup routing and vintage tremolo screw spacing are probably based on pre-63 body contours. It's hard to tell since the contours were done by hand in those days, but they definitely got less curvy in 63 and the first CBS strats in 64 were way less contoured.

This makes sense because if you're trying to build a relic guitar with a nitrocellulose finish because the reduced contours were the precursor to the CBS-era strats which, in general, people are trying not to copy.

That said I'm certainly not shooting for period-correct with mine, but if you were I think you've got to target 57-62 with those body shapes.

I have had a couple 10/56 necks from Musikraft that MJT aged for me. Love the feel of a 10/56... Here is my latest the has some nice flame in it. I git heavy rolled edges and 6105 stainless frets. Overspray back, no aging on front as my fingers will make there own pattern!

Oh and highly recommend Callaham Hardware. Got my electronics from and plastics from Crox Guitars which is over yonder in your neck of the woods. He also does great vintage water slide decals.

So Here she is! Pics a few weeks old and after this pics I’ve upgraded to a relic pickguard and installed strap buttons! And a fender G&G case. Enjoy
