Good points, it's just that every time I try to sell the '77 strat, I don't get a lot of interest and I usually get a lot of lowballers reminding me what a POS those year Fenders were. I do admit it is the "lazy" way but it's also convenient as neither of us has to worry about shipping, we are trying to work out a face to face meeting since I'm driving upstate NY Tuesday and I'll pass about an hour form where he lives.
I told him the Tele was off the table and we're still negotiating. he's still leaning towards adding something to the two guitars, I might offer an amp. Nothing fancy.

If it is the Texas Tele I sold you, I would be taking that one off the deal too.

    I miss that guitar!

Hope your deal works out good for you!

Be careful about what you're thinking here, please. If you get a decent guitar 'cheap', that's your good luck. It doesn't mean the guitar you own is worth less when you sell it. As others have suggested, I'd forget this uninteresting trade and sell the guitars you don't want. Then you can look around for a guitar that is really worth owning. Cash is king... and you hold good cards if you play them right.

Oh no, it's not that one, I love that guitar, it's a second one I found in Brooklyn on CL, guy didn't know it was a Texas model, got it for $600

that's an old add from 2016, I think he was the buyer.
It's getting close to a 2x1 transaction. If not, I'll hold on to my stuff a bit longer.

    Thanks for the advice guys

So, it's now officially a TWO for one trade, he agreed to just my hardtail strat and the Orville for his CS strat. Now would you do it? Keep in mind I'm not in love with the large headstocks. I'll try to post pics.

I still think it's not worth it.....you're giving up more value than you're getting....

Your Strat with case is worth like $1700-2200 - those 2 guitars in return are not worth that IMHO

I think most people have said don't swap haven't they. Maybe you're waiting for an answer you like better? :D

That's funny lol, there might be some of that... Actually, originally I asked about a possible 3 for 1, now that I'm working on a 2 for 1 I'm not too convinced either. Only thing that bugs me is that I keep seeing those 70's Strats for sale for the price you guys are mentioning but I don't really see them selling (especially the hard tails) Am I misiing something?

You must be missing something, not sure?

go to ebay.com, search for '1977 hardtail fender' and then click 'sold listings' in the menu on the left....if none show, try 1976, try 1978, 1979, etc...

You will see these are going for at least $1700.....I don't bother with asking prices online, only evidence of what models have sold for in the past....

You should be able to at least get $1400-1500 locally.....

Hardtails are more valuable/rare than regular tremolo models....

Posting on ST whilst driving in any weather sounds very unwise to me. It would be illegal here.
