    I TOTALLY support this idea.
    1) only the most basic of tools are needed
    2) not a lot of skill in wood working is needed
    3) only the most basic of solder work is needed
    4) a cheap soldering iron can make the joins needed
    5) will be a LOT cheaper to source the wood and tools locally and just import the drivers and crossover.
6)you can make it look how you want.
    7) you can make it larger or smaller based on your taste in sound.
8)you can be sure it is built like a tank.
9)You can add options like a dummy load or alternative connectors like speak-ons
    10) you can choose whatever crossover you want.
    11) you can choose whatever casters you want

In the end, $1300 builds you a better cab than what you could buy.

The vegas Gold is the MIM. And the sunburst is the MIA (If I sell it I will include the original 3ply white pickguard).

That's even better advice than what I shared, though it won't get you a cabinet as quickly! An even better plan (if you can temporarily fund it) would be to grab the cabinet NOW and worry about how to recoup the funds afterwards. You see where I'm going here? :sneaky: o_O You'll probably end up with all your guitars and the cabinet too! Such is the nature and plight of those with GAS! :p

    DAMHIKT!

Drivers and crossover not needed. Just a speaker fit for guitar sound. He doesn't need to build a HIFI loudspeaker.

To the OP: what do you use now? A combo? If the impedance and wattage of the speaker in that matches something your new amp can handle, you can just create a wire to connect that speaker. Then save for either a cabinet or the materials to build one.

I have a HRD III with a eminence swamp thang. I think I can try it because my amp can adjust to 4, 8 or 16. I think my eminence is 8ohms.
Just to be sure are you suggesting that I unplug the speaker from the amp (HRD) and use it as a cab?

That is a perfectly doable solution until you can get a cab.

Yep. But also be sure the speaker and new amp roughly match power-wise (as in Watt). Doesn't need to match perfectly. My little 15W amp drives a 60W speaker, I think, with no problems. The other way around may be problematic.
Maybe read up on that before you try to avoid blowing a speaker or damage the amp. Plenty to find on the internet.

Ok, never thought of doing this but it can be a solution for now, at least for important gigs. The eminence handles 150W according to the spec sheet, that should be enough for the 50W hiwatt right?
Next, the speaker cable is really short (enough for a combo). Any suggestion to make it reach the head?

I might just get kicked off this forum for this. And do not take this advice if you happen to be sane by any definition, but if it were me I would sell both Americans and buy the cabinet, And another Mexican strat. I have always been a Mexican strat person. thankfully I don't have a wife that buys me Hiwatts for my birthday , so I have yet to have such a dilemma. Good luck!
