    Same here.

I even bought a Am Special and sold it after I realized how much I disliked the big headstock.

Same actually. Never was a fan of it.

I remember seeing it before knowing who enjoyed it or played it and thinking “yeah not for me” and I’ve stuck with that

Double Ditto. In the 70's I went so far as to use a Tele neck on a Strat just to have a smaller headstock. :thumb:

Pricing the Mustang the same as the Strat just seems wrong. Particularly since they simplified the Mustang's switching.

I'm not a fan of the big headstock, either. But I'll let you in on a secret, you can't see the headstock or the script, when you are playing.

Same, same, same, and I hate double string trees (even hate single string trees - staggered tuners plz).

Considering the Tele but no way the Strat.

I just got one for my son. An American Special. It wasn’t a blow out, but it ended up being about $150 dollars less. But it had the finish he wanted, and it’s a brand new guitar.

Next year I’m going to get one of the Performers I like the penny finish and the blue metallic. But I’ll get it from GC when they have a 15 or 20% coupon. And they will give 10% any day of the week. I’ll just wait.

Jumbo frets are too big and the modern C is too small... No GAS here...

Can that satin finish be polished to gloss?

I am going to miss the two tone sunburst American Special with rosewood fingerboard. It was an affordable, American made Strat with an iconic 1970 look.

I like the sea foam hss strat, and the sea foam hs tele. Curious about the pickups though .... guess we’ll have to wait for some reviews from players. I didn’t care for Texas specials , wondering if these are going to be hot also.

Never would pickups stop me from buying a guitar. They are easy to change.
My Fiesta Red and Black Am Spl were HSS. I swapped the pickguards out.
I wanted those colors with maple necks.
I prefer different pickups than TS. My Olympic White Strat is getting CS 54's and the TS are up for sale.

Wandered into the local GC this afternoon; they have the sea foam HSS and the penny SSS Strats. The sea foam is very sharp; the satin finish looks deep and rich, not like some satin finishes on less expensive models.

They were supposed to also have the HS Tele in vintage white but I didn't see it on the wall. They were on the top row, and I didn't have a lot of time so I didn't have them pull one down for me. This GC tends to keep all the USA guitars and high-end MIJ guitars on the top row, MIM Fenders, better Epiphones and mid-level Ibanez on the middle row, and only the lower-end stuff down within reach.

American Standard is replaced by the Am Professional. Now the American Special is replaced by this. I do like the Honey burst...but it doesn't come in HSS.

I really like the American Professional line as they play fantastically. With that said I really don't like these that much, more money than the Am Special and not a whole lot more TBH. When I'm ready to buy my American Strat I'll either get a used Americal Standard or a professional and just skip this price point.
