I always thought dummy cabs were whole. I had no idea they could be fronts. You learn something new everyday!

Saw GNR this past fall. They had a fun trick. All guitarists had 2-4 “cabinets” behind them on stage. They were actually video screens with images of speaker cabinets. In and of itself, not a new idea, as I saw Def Leppard do the same thing over the summer. BUT. GNR took it to a whole new level. The cabinet types/brands changed from song to song! Wonder if they were accurate to what was being used backstage or what was used in the studio?? Gearhead moment!!

Apparently Status Quo gig with a wall of Marshalls behind them, many of which are dummies. Their actual sound comes from a Vox AC30 or two behind the wall of "Marshalls".

As mentioned in a couple posts the "......actual amp below" is just a speaker cabinet.
