I've long heard that Leo Fender's last company, G&L Guitars, made some pretty terrific instruments. Somehow, despite their attractive pricing, I could never get myself to pull the trigger on one. It doesn't help that there's nowhere near me to give one a tryout. But then I saw the Stupid Deal of the Day and my resolve was broken. $349 and no shipping. In a sweet color ("Irish Ale") . I knew I had a "cheap" guitar to pair up with my Classic Player Telecaster Triple. I'm letting it acclimate, but I've hefted it and looked it over thoroughly. A quality build; made in Indonesia of Nyato (a wood native to the Pacific rim), a maple neck and a Brazilian cherry fingerboard, weighing in a 7.4 pounds. I hope that when I plug it in it lives up to the hype.
