I've long heard that Leo Fender's last company, G&L Guitars, made some pretty terrific instruments. Somehow, despite their attractive pricing, I could never get myself to pull the trigger on one. It doesn't help that there's nowhere near me to give one a tryout.

But then I saw the Stupid Deal of the Day and my resolve was broken. $349 and no shipping. In a sweet color ("Irish Ale") . I knew I had a "cheap" guitar to pair up with my Classic Player Telecaster Triple.

I'm letting it acclimate, but I've hefted it and looked it over thoroughly. A quality build; made in Indonesia of Nyato (a wood native to the Pacific rim), a maple neck and a Brazilian cherry fingerboard, weighing in a 7.4 pounds. I hope that when I plug it in it lives up to the hype.

    GREAT GUITARS, IMO! Big Congrats!

I've owned USA Legacy and two ASAT classics. Excellent guitars.

My guess is that beauty of yours will live up to or exceed your expectations!

Enjoy and let us know how you two are doing!

Thank you. The pickups make a GREAT sound. The five-way selector switch lets me get an incredible range of tonality -- and I haven't even plugged it into any pedals, yet. The neck isn't as smooth playing as my CS Artisan Robin Trower Strat, but then that guitar cost 10x the G&L, so it damn well better play nicer!

So I wanted an inexpensive, nice-sounding knock-around guitar, and this seems like it will do just fine for that, thank you.

Awesome! I have loved every G&L I’ve ever owned. I just got my first Fender after 30 years but I’ve had two G&L’s.
