Some people say I'm crazy, I bought basically the same guitar I already own except its stock. Got this Peavey Predator for $100, and it plays great. I wasn't planning on buying it because to be honest, I really dont need it. I've been watching the price slowly drop on craigslist over the past month or so, and finally decided to snatch it.
It's got the newer logo, I'm assuming its from the 90's, but haven't really checked yet. I do know the serial number on the one I just bought is actually higher than my other one, so its newer. Mid-late 90's if my guess is correct. I'll see if I can date the serial numbers when I get home tonight, I meant to do that earlier but I got caught up in playing the thing lol
It's actually a Peavey Predator. Just as good, if not better than my MIM strat. They're made in the USA. On every one i've picked up has felt great. The pickups sound surprisingly awesome as well. Also the neck construction is really neat, they call it bi-laminate, basically split down the middle and glued together with the grains opposing, which makes them extremely stable. Plus they have a popular body which is neat
Nice find! I see Peavy's for sale a lot around here for pretty cheap.. How do they compare to a Squier?
Honestly not sure if it's a first gen or not I wanna say it says flextone II but I can't remember, its a 60w and it sounds great. Another one of those pawn shop deals, I think my dad got it for like $80.
The Predators in particular; The neck is a flat 12in raduis, the pickups are hotter, and they have popular bodies. Better than a squier imo, but I've also played really good squiers so I guess it's all speculative. Out of the box these things blow most squiers away
awesome I'll have to look into buying one used on craigslist soon.... I typically try to buy Squires and Epiphones because they are easy to sell compared to other amazing guitars like Schecter, LTD, Jackson, etc
