Because it has what Fender call a thin skin nitro finish - i.e. thinner paint. When describing these guitars, they have a habit of stating or implying that this makes them sound "better". However they don't mention anything about this when describing the other 99% of Fenders that don't have a thin skin or even a nitro finish. You can draw your own conclusions from this.....
