I have a new guitar. It's a 2002 Don Grosh Retro Classic. 10" Fingerboard radius. Fralin pups. Brazillian board. It sounds great. I love these pups. The neck is awesome! Here's some pics. IMG_0903.JPG IMG_0906.JPG

Nice! I take it you didn't get the little card with the specs for this one? If not, then I would imagine you could email them and get a copy of the card (or at least an email with the specs on it) that will tell you exactly which Fralins they used.

For those not familiar with Don Grosh - early in his career he worked for Valley Arts Guitars; I believe he was the one who did their in-house necks (at least for the Lukather signatures) toward the end of that company's original run. Valley Arts had taken on some financial partners - I can't remember if they were from Samick or if the financial partners sold their shares to Samick - but at any rate in the early 1990s Samick took over Valley Arts and Grosh went out on his own.

The guitars are very well respected - right up there with Tom Anderson, John Suhr, and James Tyler - but for some reason they don't get the press they got say 6-8 years ago. I've owned 2 of them - one from 2002 that was a maple-top guitar and one of the circa 2009 "Standard" models. Very nice guitars but ultimately neither of the neck carves I tried out worked for me.

Thanks! I really appreciate the information. I need to email them and try to get a spec sheet. I wonder if it will be as simple as getting specs from Fender? It's a great guitar! It plays well and I'm happy with it!

It should be, but it might take a bit longer as they are a much smaller company. I mentioned in your other thread that I also had a 2002 - the "spec sheet" was a little 5"x7" (or maybe 4" x 6") card with the specs on it (neck carve, body wood, hardware, pickups, etc.). It almost looked like it was filled out by hand by someone who should have been a kindergarten/1st grade teacher. These days it's definitely a computer-printed 8 1/2" x 11" sheet.

EDIT: Hey, I just realized my comment "should have been a kindergarten/1st grade teacher" could be misinterpreted. I meant that the printing was perfect - like what I remember my early grade school teachers being able to replicate on the blackboard.
