Would love to see these guys get somewhere but the playoffs are always a disappointment.
Die hard Blues fan here. It's not easy.
Well since the Canucks were utter crap this year, I'll be rooting for the Bruins (grew up a Bruins fan, then lost all interest in hockey for years and didn't pick it up again until I moved to Vancouver, so I kind of cheer for both teams now, so 2011 was pretty awesome). I'm hoping for a Bruins/Pens eastern final, but I think two of the best series will be in the first round: Bruins/Leafs and Pens/Flyers should both be amazing, bruising series.
In the west, I just can't get excited about any of the teams in it. The Knights would be a good story, and a Knights/Pens final would be cool to pit Fleury against his old team. The Preds had a great season, but as a Canucks fan, I know too well how little winning back to back Presidents Trophies did for us.
Ha. Winning the Presidents' Trophy meant a first round exit for the Blues in 99/00. So frustrating.
Canucks did the same in 2012... stupid Kings... I still hate those guys!
You and me both man. I'm a displaced Philadelphian and a long time Flyers fan. Gotta crush the stupid, flightless birds and make Cindy and the girls hit the links early.
We appreciate your assistance in getting us into the playoffs. We'll take a 5-0 win to catapult us into the big time!
A couple of firsts last nite!!!!!
Winterpegs Jets first ever playoff win!!!!
Vegas Golden Nights fist ever playoff win!!!!
I love all the Philly love here, especially the trash talk on my Pens. Pens in 6.
Man that game last night was absolutely horrible. Nothing went right for us and that’s definitely not the way to open a series. I expect some significant changes to be made before tomorrow’s game.
My son just texted me. He's at the Caps Game. Center ice 4 rows back.
LEAFS all the way!!!
But, Boston clubbin' us now OUCH! This is a hard game to watch.....
Yeah, my Ducks are getting a whoopin too.
I'm a MN Wild fan, which pretty much means...
Not to rub salt in a wound but here ya go .
Honestly I used to be a huge hockey fan , but for me the game has changed so much.
The anticipation of what might happen during the game when players like Ti Domi , Rick Tocchet , Dave Brown , Bob Probert ,
Scott Stevens and my favorite instigator Claude Lemieux took the ice was exciting for me ! The game now seems somewhat more robotic to me .
Heck even little Sean Avery brought some grit to the game .
Like signing a new goalie? They were your biggest problem, two softies. Short of you guys gooning it up, your goalie(s) will be what loses this series for you.
Its not just you. the game really has changed.
The players today are bigger, faster and stronger than the players of old. Hence, the chance for serious injury has increased dramatically. So I understand the need for rule changes to help keep things under control.
Plus, hockey isnt a niche sport anymore, its mainstream, and big business. The days of the goon squad teams are behind us, now its youth and skill driving the game.
That said, I do miss the classic days with guys like Neely, Stevens, Shultz, Lindros, etc.
Pro hockey has evolved, for better or worse, but it definitely isnt the same as yesterdays NHL.
I remember the street riots that happened. Disgraceful.
Go Bruins? Kidding, I don't follow it too much but some co workers and I used rent an indoor street hockey rink one a month. Was a lot of fun. When I watch it I always root for the Bruins and I don't even know if they're in it that's how infrequently I watch the sport.
It's one of the last clean, respectable sports though without too many players if any pounding on their wives or killing people and animals. I am a closet Montreal fan because of the history and I have quite a few Canadian friends. In Boston I really have to keep that on the low down so sshh. <looks over his shoulder>
