Boston won last night, 5-1 over Toronto. Go Bruins!
How can a Vancouverite go for the big bad Bruins after what they did to the Canucks in 2011!!!!!!
I'm originally from the Maritimes, where everyone either roots for the Bruins, Canadians, or Leafs. I was a Bruins fan. I moved to Vancouver in 2003, and since being here I kind of felt like I should cheer for the home team. It helps that they're in different conferences and rarely play each other. When they do, I just sit back and enjoy without worrying about who wins. I saw the 2011 finals as a win-win for me!
Go leafs go.
The Maritime area is where all my friends up there reside and were born. Bruin, Canadien, with a sprinkle of Leaf fans.
I'm not a big hockey guy, but I've gotta give my Ohio team some love. Go Blue Jackets!
Beyond that, all sports have changed...kids are being groomed into specialized athletes from a very young age, as a result of the need to be competitive. Even at a high school level, a varsity hockey player is expected to have been in the system since day one. To be on Varsity, you needed at least one year of JV. To be on JV, you needed one year at Bantam. To be on bantam, you needed one year on peewee, and to be on peewee, you needed at least 2 years of learn to skate and learn to play...but the LTP program required 2 years of LTS. So, to play varsity hockey requires a commitment from the 4th grade on.
Nevermind junior hockey or college hockey.
Swimming and softball are the same. A junior high age softball player, locally, isn't allowed to play volleyball. Or, she's allowed to play volleyball, but the rest of the softball team is doing off-season training, so while she's playing volleyball all winter, she's jeopardizing her odds of making the softball team in the spring.
Bz are on a roll! Get out the broom I smell a sweep!!!!
Ughhh, my Kings
They've managed to have one solid period of play so far out of 9...could be a sweep here too
I admit I don't follow hockey closely, but I realize change. How and when did the Columbus Blue Jackets team come in to the league.
Expansion team back in 2000
Go Bolts!!! Coming from life long ties with the Blackhawks/ Cubs /Sox n Da Bears.
So happy we have Hockey on the beach.
It is not over till The Fat Lady Sings!!!!
Damn that long? I guess I don't pay attention. Would that have been when San Jose came in?
She is warming up with the pianist at the moment though...
Of course, my Ducks are also 0-2 vs. San Jose at the moment.
Sharks joined in early 90's ('91 had to google it)
Well..I'm an optimist (you have to be with the Kings!)...but as much as I would l love to see a 2012-esque season again where they were underdogs that came out of nowhere to win the whole thing, I just see too many chinks in the armor to do that again. Plus, Vegas is no joke
Well the young Maple Leafs got schooled by the Big Bad and much older Bruins in the first 2 games of the series!!!!
Here is hoping home ice does them some good!!!!!
Bz let their foot off the gas last night but we will prevail...
This is getting good now. Pittsburgh/Washington and Boston/Tampa (of course the Bruins are gonna win game 7 ) should be pretty great. And I'm starting to get on the Jets bandwagon (they'll effectively become Team Canada once Toronto inevitably bites the dust), so that series will be fun to watch, too!
LETS GO PREDATORS. I became a hockey convert in 2012, just roaming down the streets in downtown Nashville. Got 20 dollar tickets, and I was hooked from that day on.
