    Awesome!!

My daughter has been playing uke and has now picked up interest in guitar again. So I have 2 in the works right now. It's rewarding working with your kids teaching them music, specifically guitar :).

Hope your son carries through with it.

My kids have always learned best from anyone other than me. :thumbd:

I think that's normal and that will happen with me also. I'll get them to a certain point...but once I start telling them they need to do things that are "work" and the won't want to do...all bets are off :).

My wife tried teaching my kids piano. It did not go well...arguing and fighting. They are perfectly behaved and learn well from their piano teacher though.

    I took a different approach.

I taught him the D, E, A, and G chords. Soon after that I enrolled him in lessons with other kids so he got excited about the band atmosphere.

Lessons are incredibly expensive, so I am doing the 1 month private lessons and then I teach him for 1 month.

Now that he has the basics down, thanks to his private teacher's efforts, he and I avoid the fighting. we just jam to 2 or 3 songs.

I teach him the fretboard notes and he gets 5 dollars a week towards a music related purchase.

I save money, he learns and makes money. Next month we go back to private lessons.

So yeah, even though family finances keep him from staying in music lessons, he is progressing nicely.

    Nice trio for sure!

Gas is a strange psychological affliction which when it sets in is hard to reason away. A 1st word problem. I myself am in remission, we'll see. Internet makes it tuff. I went decades with only two electrics and an old acoustic. WTF

Sure could use a good Telecaster or two though! hmmm.

What keeps it at bay for me is the fact that what I am interested in trying out isn't stocked in my local stores, including GC. Too many times have I had stress after buying a guitar online.

My son is starting to get into guitar and I look at options for him and am saddened that getting him a guitar will likely not be a trip to the store and shopping...it will be browsing a webpage.

I went 15 years with just an electric and an acoustic LOL.

I just had a OGD yesterday! Finished putting together this partscaster from a bunch of old parts I had laying around. Body is ash, squier bullet neck, mint pickguard and PUs from my LTD st-213. So far I'm really liking it, sounds great through my Ampeg!

But...but...your Tele only has HB's. You NEED a standard Tele to fill out the stable.

You are a bad influence. My mom says I'm not allowed to play with you anymore.

I only ever buy used (1 brand new guitar out of 15- roughly 7%, 2 new amps out of 4- 50%!, 2 new pedals out of 4- also 50%), but mostly I keep GAS at bay by having empty pockets.

I'll make small purchases (things like a tuner, strap/straplocks, a stomp box or strings) which keeps it at bay.

Not that I still don't have a LOOOOOONG list of gear I want...

Sweet Guitars! The fact that they get along with your rugs is the sign you need...a happy family just the way they are.
