We could all get together and create the New Gibson Camel.

As much as I like my Gibsons there's no way I'd want that job

So will the prices of pre 2018 Gibsons go up when they finally revamp everything?

I have gypsy in my family tree, but, the fortune telling gene must skip generations, but, I'll go with...no, not any more than inflation, not including collector guitars.

I'm sending my resume. Just hoping for a frame-able rejection letter.

Well that too. But no matter what anyone does there it's a no win situation.

Take for instance the propensity of headstock breaks. Common school of thought is the root of that issue is the severe angle of said headstock. So ok, let them redesign that and even if it works the purists will absolutely scream bloody murder

Newer models ? Same thing. Then there are the price issues. Everyone wants a nice beautiful Gibson but yeah, theres a price to pay for that. Believe me, I know. I've bought a few in last couple years. So ok, they make some stripped down versions and people cry about those too. Because they arent the shiny Gibsons we all drooled over when we were starting out guitar journeys. But you know what, pricewise a standard Gibson and the Pro series Fenders arent all that far apart. And for those of us that buy a guitar hopefully for a lifetime that isnt a huge issue

So no, I don't want that job

I don't see anywhere about knowing anything about guitars. Gibson has become a slow motion train wreck. There should be a guitar based drama or comedy on, there's a lot of material to riff off of.

It’s a different time. Is guitar based Rock n Roll in its twilight?
Do young punks today look up to Duane Allman and Jimmy Page?
Is there a burning desire to get a Sunburst Les Paul?
Or a Black Les Paul Custom?
I don’t really see many teenagers today who even look like they’re into rock.

I don’t know if one person can revive a whole industry

I think Gibson's time has come and gone.

There are more than enough Gibsons out there for those who lust after them and there's nothing that a new Gibson offers over a used one that makes me want to buy a new Gibson over a used one.

I can't see myself ever buying a new Gibson. A few months ago, I bought a 2010 CS-336 in near mint condition and paid almost 50% less than a new one would have cost me.

Although I've banged, wrenched and pulled on Gibson head stock enough that I'd have thought the neck joint was going to come loose...it never happened to me or anyone I know. I have seen pictures of broken head stocks. A redesign wouldn't bother me a bit, whether it's a volute, a joint at the nuttular area or just changing the angle...if the a new way is better, go with it. The could still have the Historic line up from the custom shop.

People are going to piss and moan about any price above free.

Why not let the Chinese take 'em over?

With all the Chibsons out there they wouldn't even need to make new tooling…

    I've stored them there before…

Well I have experience of M&A integrating complimentary companies and I know a little about guitars. The latter probably disqualified me....
