I found a nice Harley Benton maple necked Strat style guitar for a good price. How does it stack up quality wise to a Squier Bullet strat?

I'd say it's at least as good depending on the model, there are several HB Stratocasters. The more expensive ones (still very cheap) come with Alnico pickups and Wilkinson hardware. They have had som quality control issues in periods though so they can be a hit or miss. If you buy it new that's not a problem as their return policy is excellent although sometimes slow.

I have a Harley Benton CST-24 HB that is really great except for two high frets that prevents me from dropping the action to where I'd like it. I've opened a warranty claim on it, we'll see how they handle that.

I forgot. I also have a Harley Benton fretless bass that is excellent, not a thing to complain about. I have the Harley Benton 1x12 Cab too, with a Celestion Vintage 30. The entire cabinet was cheaper than the speaker alone.

I don't know about HB quality, but I can assure you that Thomann's customer care is excellent.

Normally great quality for the price but there are duds, I had a Harley Benton 335 in cherry which looked stunning, and sounded good, finish was better than I expected, BUT two of the frets were set incorrectly (at an angle of about 1-2 mm to the others). Sent it back, bought a VM Squier Jag instead (which I love) and eventually got a Epi Dot studio in cherry which I also love :)

I may try a Harley Benton again someday but it has put me off.

I've got the Harley Benton ST-62 Strat in vintage white with maple neck.
Bought it new from thomann a few month's ago,
    Great guitar!
I can't believe the quality of the thing!
It cost me around £110 Posted I think.
It's the newer one with the Roswell pickups not the Wilkinson, but they sound just as good to me, I've also got a vintage v6 reissue so I can compare the pickups.
    Great chunky feeling neck.
I'm thinking of buying a couple more to be honest.
A friend if mine (a pro guitarist) put me on to them when he bought the te 52 Tele which he uses full time now!
    Would highly recommend them.
I'll take a couple of pic's later & post them here.
    Cheers Dave.

Yes, I agree that the quality is good, and a great value for the price. I had six-string bass and also a shallow body acoustic guitar, both excellent instruments. On both cases I wanted an affordable instrument and was blow away but the bang for buck that I got. Like others say, the customer service from Thomann is very good and they are always eager to help and reply quickly. Let us know what you decide and post pictures when you buy it!
