    So
    As in
    Hummers
    &
    Singles
Are there different flavors and (tones?) In the P 90 world
As in my new Fender Mustang 90
    And
    Or
    Like the
    Four position telecaster paradigm?
    Hmmmmmmmmmmmm?

I went through a couple P90's and looked at dozens of P90 sound clips, online. Significant differences between soap bar ones and humbucker sized ones. Differences between ones in semi-hollow guitars and solid body guitars.

After a playing a couple semi-hollow's and putting humbucker sized ones in a strat, I looked at the Fender Jazzmaster and decided to put twin soap bar P90's in a strat. Standard Vol, tone, tone pots. Really only need a 3 way switch. GREAT sound. Very happy.

    Hope this helps.

Some of the best p-90 tones I have ever heard came from the stock Epiphone P-90s in a '61 RI Epi SG.

I played a couple different P90 semi hollow body guitars, then solid body ones. Decided that...for me.... a solid body was good. And...for me....soap bar P90's were the best.

I went through a couple cheap brands and then, spent the money on Fralin's. Fantastic...very glad I did. I did not try SD's or Lollar's....both are suppose to be very good.

I have a '68 SG jr. with a second P90 added a long time ago

    They're great and versatile.

I also have a Duncan Vintage neck P90 and a Duncan Custom P90 and they're even hotter than the OE stuff.

I bought a used PRS Soapbar II about 5 or so years ago figuring I'd upgrade the PUPS and other electronics. I haven't touched it. Here's a recent entry to Tuesday Bluesday thread in My Music Forum where I used it for rhythm and slide (standard tuning) . The strings are old and quote dead and I still like the tone.
