My parts tele is just about to under go it's third evolution.

It started out as an axesrus butterscotch body, using a 96 mexican neck. The plan was to build a single pick up esquire kinda thing. It had a Seymour Duncan hotrails hidden under the pick guard a horrible harsh sounding stacked bridge pickup and a 5 way switch with the pickups split. It was so loud in stacked mode I could use it as a solo boost. Sounded horrible though.... the only picture I could find was from far away so I won't bother.

    On to Evo 2

I contoured the body front and back (I'm a strat man) and painted it white. I put in a strat Neck pickup in without the cover, still the same bridge pick up...

    Let's call this Evo 2.5

    IMG_1285.JPG

I installed Lace sensors, 250k CTS pots and an orange drop cap. Still with 5 way switch now with a tone cap and phase inversion.

    Now it's ugly.

    On to 3.

As a treat to myself for not drinking for the month with the money I've saved I've bought a set of tonerider Albico 2 blues pickups as I wanted low output, a 3 way switch, new knobs and.......... some SHELL PINK NITRO!

I was panning on fiesta red but I had a last minute change of heart. It'll have a single ply white pick guard.

I'll keep it updated on my progress.

Just dug these out of the cupboard to go on the tele.

    Ermmmm... that's annoying.

    What's missing?
They will fit with the ones already on there but these are a nicer shape.

The body is now stripped. Glad that's over. I had to use some wood filler to fill the scratches from the scraper. I used a heat gun.
I think I need to seal my contours. The paint sunk into them last time I painted it. Not sure what's best to use that's readily available. PVA?

I now have my paint and all my parts apart from the scratchplate. I'll head over to eBay and grab one. I have pretty much every combination of tele scratchplates apart from the one I want. A single ply 5 hole.
Should be painted by the end of the weekend. Hopefully I can stop myself rebuilding it before the paint has fully hardened. Something I'm bad for....

It's now pink. Maybe a bit more pink than I would've liked... we'll see. I'll save that for the reveal.

Now I'm just gonna sit and stare at my new assembly for at least a week until I can flatten and polish my paint.

    *twiddles thumbs.

Well here it is! I couldn't last a week. 6 days.... that's good enough right?
I'm pretty happy. I've gone for some regular 10 slinkys instead of the power 11's I normally use. It feels nicer on this guitar. I always felt like I was fighting it. I'll stick with 11's on my strats. I also took the gloss off the back of the neck.
The pickups so far just di'd with a pre sound great. It actually sounds like a telecaster! I'm gigging tomorrow so I'll give it a go in my amp.

    IMG_1354.JPG

The finish isn't perfect, you can still see some scratch marks from the stripping in certain lights. I didn't use a lot of primer as I wanted it to be as thin as possible. I could've prepped better. But hey, it's done now and I like it.
Hopefully the pink will tone down a bit over time.....

I think it looks GREAT, specially as it will start to pick up some wear.

    Awesome! Love the contoured body.
How in the name of Houdini did you shoehorn the middle pickup under the pick guard? I was expecting an additional cavity...

    Thanks!
Oh no sorry, my write up was confusing. The hot rails was before when I had an esquire no pickup plate on there. It was in the regular place.

Great looking guitar! If you would like to soften the feel of the pink you may want to try a mint green guard. Less contrast. Worked for me on a previous build.

Thanks, I do have a spare mint one. It's a 3 ply. It's growing on my now though. I wanted the single ply 5 hole 50's look, not sure that would work with mint. I might give it a go though.

Playing a wedding tonight. It feels and sounds great. Taking the gloss off the neck has made the world of difference. Looking even pinker under blue lights!
