So I picked up one of these today, and I am pretty happy so far. Peavey Classic 20w head. Actually, I didn't even know these existed until one turned up on my local Craigslist. I was familiar with all the combos in the Classic series, but I didn;t know they made a head. It's really good. The gain channel is really high gain, so you need to turn the pregain way down to get a usable grit. But it's nice and gritty. Reverb is fine. The cool thing is actually the back, and all the modern features. It includes an effects loop, an attenuator that allows you to choose 20w, 5w, 1w, an emulated line out to go straight to the board, a USB out for recording, a headphone out, and impedance selector. That's a lot of good stuff. None of the Peavey Classic combo amps have all that. Plus it is small and light. Might have a winner here.

FYI, that other thing in the photo is a Fender Pro Jr chassis. I'm trying to decide if I want to mount it into the cabinet to make a mashup combo out of it. It sounds pretty friggin good.

I had one for about a month. Nice little amp by itself but I run a stereo rig I just couldn't get it to sound how I liked with the other amp, a Blackstar HT20. I tried for a few weeks but in the end I let the Peavey go

Nice! I wish they made a 30 watt head.

Put the pro Jr into it's own head.

The 30 watt combo has a plug for an extension cabinet. I use mine all the time with a 112 cabinet across the room.

The older USA models made a head. I had one. Great amp.

    Um check those out.

They used to and I bought one back in 2007. I don't know why it didn't go over well. Sounds great through a 212.

Yeah, but I’m getting away from combos (unless it’s a 5e3 maybe). I’ve got plenty of cabs and even more speakers than cabs.

Hmm. Well there’s an idea. A homemade Pro Jr head. Has anyone ever seen one of these?

No, you'd have to cut down a cab and refit the bottom and redo the tolex.
    Would look awesome though

    Someone, somewhere, did.

Although, I should be honest and say I don't prefer this look personally.

Interesting. It would be long and wide, though. I was thinking of mounting the PJ chassis in my ext cab, sorta like this:
