I just learned how to play Stormy Monday as the ABB does on Fillmore East! I don't know who else to share this with, my bandmates were cool about it because we have a new song to work into our set, but really my wife gave me the supportive spouse who doesn't understand, "that's good honey". I have always been inspired, impacted, and intimidated by the ABB's L@TFE album. However, I always thought much of it was beyond my ability, so I stayed away from learning the songs. Last night I was practicing on my own and during my "learn a new song for pleasure" phase of practice I decided on Stormy Monday. I figured I should be able to play most of it now, I am a much better player than when I first looked at the song 5 years ago. I was right, and the ability to play a song I know and love so much is a real treat. I was jamming on it for about 30 minutes last night around midnight in pure bliss. I cannot remember the last time I was this proud of myself. I just had to share it with the folks who understand! Thanks for reading

I love those moments when they happen, when you feel you've taken a leap forward. Just wish they happened more often!

Duane's first solo on Stormy Monday is one of my favorite guitar moments ever. Congrats!

Well done....massive ABB fan here and that is indeed an icon of a tune. Must have felt great to leave it for 5 years, come back and just play on. I had a similar experience with a Robben Ford tune last year, I used to spend hours on it and simply couldn't get it. Put it down for a few years and when I went back at it, it was there.
Thanks for posting, nice to know this is happening all over.

I love it when that happens, the feeling is like no other. Congrats and enjoy, it's also quite possibly my fav version of the song too.
