I'm not obsessed with phones, although I heavily use mine for business and entertainment. I just don't rush to stores to buy a newly released phone.

I bought my iphone three years ago, It's working flawlessly except for the ear speaker. I can't hear caller clearly. I thought of trading it in for a new iphone. Apple has given me a very generous offer, 80 euro for my iPhone 6 plus  from 899 to 80 in three years. Apple doesn't seem to appreciate its own products.

So, I totally cancelled the idea of getting a new phone. Instead, I'll fix it and fix another iphone 5 with a broken screen.

Total cost: 62 euro for spare parts and tools.

No guitar practicing tonight I'm afraid :(

    Wish me luck :D

You're a brave man. I've worked on an Apple MacBook Air a couple of times and they're really fiddly. Good luck with this. :thumb:

Good luck! it is not complicated, I have repaired all iphones I have had in my or family possession, starting from iP3. The only ones which are still intact are last 7 and X (I have trained myself not to smash then on the floor :). All the rest had screens, batteries, other parts replaced.

I opened up an iphone 5 to see what was inside.

nothing but a bunch of Micheal Chips

one liked to be called mike. the others were firm on being addressed as Micheal

You are a braver man than I :). My daughter broke the screen on her iPod Touch a few years ago and I tried to repair it. All was good until at the very end when I tried to press the screen more tightly onto the rest of the phone. Something broke and it didn't work at all.

Thank you Simon! I enjoy fixing things. It’s going to be a challenge :D
    I have a 12v electric drill lol
    Tack bröther ;)
I have watched several videos and went through guides. I’ll start with iPhone 5, if things go well, iPhone 6+ is next.
I’ll send you a photo of what I find inside iPhone 5 ;)

You can repair it yourself. There are ready fix kits. But first you need to know the problem.

Be very careful with the 5 and 5s - the 4 screws that hold the metal cover over the screen ribbons are all different lengths. If you put them in the wrong holes, you will mangle the motherboard and it's game over. (Don't ask me how I know). So ALWAYS lay them out so you know which one is which.

Thank you for the advice :) I’ve bought a magnetic mat that holds all screws. It’s in the photo above.

I admire you tackling this. I too like to fix stuff. Those batteries however are a PIA to remove. I say a P I A.
Good luck, you can do it.

    Good luck...

Life is much more agreeable when you have a computer / lap-top for internet stuff, & a simple, regular phone for phone stuff IMO...

This allows you to turn-them-off, & use them for their own individual needs, when you need them.

If you're unsuccessful in your repair, a regular cell-phone for $50:00 or less will be all you need, & last longer too...

I wish I could use a regular phone. I’d go back to Nokia with flash-light. Most of my communication with clients are via WhatsApp. Without a smartphone, I wouldn’t be able to stay in touch with them and fulfill their questions.
I’m used to Apple phones. I don’t like Android. I hate google. :whistling:
