Anyone else in this club?
Love my G40V
I read a little about these, some said they were farty, and some said that the tubes ran too hot near crucial circuits, I thought why not flip it upside down then... lol
aw man, now you're getting way to technical for me!!!!
Hey B, how you doin? Reminds me, I have to take some pics to share with you.
Cool, hit up my email.
Iove mine. Replaced tubes with some rmelectrk harmonix, and had the caps replaced.
My G40V came as a stand-in when my 59 Bassman LTD went down. I could never get the brown sound I wanted from my Bassman although I loved the look smell and vibe and swirly cleans for jangle. But when I had them in same room was evident that the Pig had hose tones with ease. I sold the Bassman, bought a Tweed Deluxe and use them together in stereo!
Actually, my output trannie shorted so took the oppo to have the Marshall 1 mod. The circuit was identical save for a capacitor off the Presence control an 6L6 rather than 5881 tubes. RESULT: It doesn't sound like a Marshall through the onboard 1x10, but output to even a 1x12" or a 4x12" and Whoa! Better than a Marshall mk1 - is more like a bloody Plexi!
Anyway, what you lose in one hand you gain in the other! Superb little amp.
THIS IS THE SOUND!
Here is the MOD discussed:
