I've just booked a holiday/vacation starting in... the wrong year!

As far as I can work out, the on-line booking mechanism had the September 2018 option right next to the September 2019 option, and I accidentally selected the one for next year.

It was only when I had finished the transaction and the page said "only 414 days to go" that I realised what I'd done.

    Fortunately, I can cancel.

The other upside is that anyone asks me what it feels like to be an incompetent, bumbling old idiot, I'll be able to give them some real insight.

I would think it's a sign of your optimism over next year. :D

I had to call my wife to figure out how to buy airfare not long ago but I still blame my Dad’s laptop, I don’t like using them.

Don't cancel, you might have a good time and want a return trip.

I do that stuff. I'll research something I want to buy, and check about a zillion online sales companies, comparing prices and features of similar items. Then more often than I'd like, I'll choose one and check out, and then realize that the one I bought was lacking a key feature I wanted, and I have to phone the company and get them to cancel the order.

At least now I know I'm not the only one.

On line web forms are often designed by people who don't have to use them, and click boxes and such can get confusing. That is pretty funny though.

So... this year we'll go to Croatia. Then next year, we'll go to Croatia. Because we've never been there before?

I think that's how old age works. It's hard to tell, because they don't give you a manual.

You know, maybe they did give me a manual. Where the heck did I put that manual? Or was it for the TV?

The last week-long work trip I booked had the return flight on the day after I arrived. It cost someone $200 to fix that screw up. I expected it to be me, but nobody complained.

To err is human, to really screw up requires an online booking form.

My grandparents on my fathers' side came from Croatia, they were lifelong farmers (he became an engineer). He's pretty fluent in the language. I didn't pick it up.

Glad I'm not the only one. On Friday I jacked the car up and swapped a tyre with a slow puncture for the spare. Dropped the problem one off at the tyre fitters place and as I got out of the car in my drive I saw that I'd put the leaky one back on and taken the undamaged spare to be fixed. Can't get the muddle sorted 'till Monday. o_O

When I was maybe 20-years-old, I went down to Cornwall with a mate of mine to stay in what we Brits call a B&B (Bed and Breakfast – a cross between a budget hotel and a private house). We eventually found the B&B we had booked, rang the doorbell, and told the Landlady who we were.

    "You're early," she said.

"Well, we know it's not midday yet, but could we just leave our suitcases here and come back later?" my mate Terry asked.

"No," she replied. "You're a week early."

Whether it was Terry's mix-up, or hers, I'll never know. :D

Here in the states we call a place like that a B&B (Bed and Breakfast). For once our terms are the same. :)

What I can tell you is it will go on like that for a little while and then get a little worse.
