yeah that kid playing guitar...
I saw quiet riot on tour with ac/dc & fastway in '83 ...
Never had the privilege of seeing R.R.
Loving the early RR! Something about Kevin Dubrow makes me angry though.
i've been trying to think of a good way to say that... QR should've made sure RR stayed and gotten a new singer... David Coverdale perhaps, or Joan Jett... Pat Benatar!
That's a 2 edged sword, had that happened we may still have him!
Oh dear, this one really makes you feel for Ozzy
I am out of touch here a bit more explanation to the stupid.
I never got to see Randy either....that Whiskey a Go Go gig is from when I was 9 or 10 years old at best, and he was gone before my 13th bday.
We would not have the music we know and love him for now( with Ozzy) but he would maybe still be alive.
I went to HMV today looking for the blizzard of ozz cd I've had to order it thanks for the reminder
I was at the Diary of a Madman show in Dallas in Feb/1982.
Randy just electrified the whole Arena that night. His playing was so unbelievable, his solos soared all over the building and then he would pull back and play the most melodic, beautiful sounds. He was sublime that night.
It was a musical crossroads, landmark thing for me.
His playing that night changed me as a musician.
I remember walking out of Reunion Arena saying to my self " I just saw one of the best musicians in the world".
Then the terrible news. Edit: The Dallas show was February 20, 1982 and Randy was killed on March 19, 1982.
So I saw him almost exactly one month before his passing. (not one week as I earlier wrote)
Everything about Randy Rhoads makes him the perfect guitar player from his looks to his movements.....
Sounds like my Chris Cornell story.
Also, I just saw Randy's sister at my High School Reunion in So Cal last month. She's married to my childhood friend.
Damn,she looks just like him.
Does anybody remember the guitarist from Odin?Yeah, local LA 80s band.Yeah,Randy went onto Ozzy and that other guitarist didn't.Randy would've been another no name.
Question is ,would Quiet Riot have made Metal Health with Randy?I don't think so.
a great and terribly sad story...
Ha! He's one of my favorite voices for rock.
Thanks for the video. I honestly hope the cameramen and editing crew were banned from ever working again. I think I'm seasick!
it must have been the quaaludes!
It's not his voice that gets me its his face, lol
For a fire- breathing, rip your face off guitarist, Randy Rhoads had a certain grace and elegance to his playing. When I was 20, I bought a used cream Gibson Les Paul Custom off a guy in Brooklyn for $750 - those were the days, right?
Even though I had a Randy Rhoads guitar, I never had his class and elegance, and definitely not his amazing compositional skills- those were in his heart, head, and hands.
Don't we all miss having idols?
