    Hi all,

New to the forum and this is my first post!

I have found this strat (see photos) on the local classifieds. The only description is:

"Never played still has tags on neck and cardboard box it came in".

I have done my research on the 50th anniversary models and cant turn up anything with this unique blend of features, rosewood board, gold hardware and flamed maple top.

I defer to your boundless expertise to help me sole this mystery!

Does anyone know the specific model and can link me to full specs?

I have been in touch with the seller to ask for the serial number but no response yet.

List price is $2,000 AU. Seems like a great price to me for a mint USA with higher then standard specs, what do you all think?

It may be a Strat from 2004 (or whatever year 50 was), but it's not "The" 50th anniversary. All Strats that year had a 50th anniversary logo. They had 3 models, the one with gold hardware was the deluxe version with the s-switch. I believe they all where two tone burst with a maple neck. Plus they came in a nice tweed case. I had one (in my avatar), but eventually sold it. It was a really nice guitar, but too pretty for me.

If there is no serial that is a red flag - most of this looks genuine but perhaps the original serial was on the neck plate?

I would pass on this for that kind of price anyway even if you had a legit serial etc....

    Welcome to the forum!

Seems like way too much money. Even in AU.

Ahhh, thank you so much for tracking down another one. Im surprised a few people have commented that its too much money. Over here a 2018 USA professional can be had for $2,000 (if on sale). Given that this has some nicer cosmetic features (flamed maple top) I thought it would be better value.

What would you say is a fairer price?

Just an FYI....it is real...it is a 1996 50th anniversary....They made 2500 right handed guitars (like MrD stated above) and 250 left handed guitars...

Sorry that you weren't able to purchase the guitar, they are great and well worth the money being asked....

I am the proud owner of a lefty....
