My 'music/work/computer room' isn't that big and (besides containing all the clutter like guitar magazines, official papers, a desk, a printer and too many unused guitar effects) it needs to provide shelter to 13 guitars, a stage piano, an electronic drum kit, a few guitar amps, a 19" rack with the kit I do use, my DIY 1x12 cabinet & neckjig and a tele-styled electric mandolin.

My most recent lapse of reason, giving in to my occasional urge to buy more stuff (another 1986-ish Epi S-900 and a 1970's SS amp with cabinet) has made the need to reorganize an imminent priority.

The arrival of all kind of stuff left over from the ongoing (almost complete) wind down of my partner's pet shop, like a cash register computer, paper financial administration files --both to be stored for 7 years... makes it even worse. Thanks taxman!

So, I had to compact the space all those guitars took.

Here's how they used to hang (the rest on stands, making the room a musical gauntlet).

So I wanted to condense the space they occupy by hanging them angled, without rendering the current hooks obsolete.

My first attempt, using the top of the existing shelving units:

I didn't like it (even though it took quite some time to design a sturdy enough construction). They were hanging too low, rendering the floor surface below pretty much unusable.

So, today, I took that down again and made it like this:

Eventually, the top row will be taken by the electrics, with the acoustics -a little lower- behind those.

Full disclosure: I really just wanted to post pictures of (some of) my guitars again...

That black Strat is awesome. Your space looks pretty organized to me.

I hope I don't live to 107. The thought of all the reorganizing I'd need to do....
Plus, I would not be able to reach for the strat anymore!;)

That black strat is my one and only Fender. I like it a lot. It's on the first hook for a reason. It's also the only guitar that needs protection (cork, not rubber!) from the chemicals in the plastic covering the hooks.

The pic was supposed to show my un-tidy space. I guess it doesn't look too bad. Pack three high school kids and one old man in there and it seems pretty claustrophobic. :D

The rest of my room looks like a war zone compared to what you (and indeed myself) photographed...:whistling:

I though I was jammed up. Evidently, I'm just getting started.

Now, let's have full view of that Ibanez 12 string.

A pic of the desk that doubles as hub for my recording and just an ordinary desk for paperwork and computing would make you feel better. I also have loads of stuff packed into the closet. :D

I'll take a good shot of it tomorrow.

I hardly ever play it though. Even after lowering the action by lowering the bridge, it takes too much pressure to even attempt a barré chord.

The bridge can be lowered further... Which I will try... Some day.

    Why wait... Right?

(and it's now past 00:00, so... Technically, tomorrow)

And before anyone asks, here is the Ibanez Nylon string electric-acoustic next to the 12 string...

    IMAG0564~3.jpg

The bass next to that is an Ibanez too (albeit a budget 'soundgear' SD model)

All three awesome . Thank you. I was expecting a semi hollow body 12. A beauty with the gold hardware, aged bridge pins, bound neck...

Thanks! The aging is all natural. It's around 30 years old. Probably just a tad over that. My sister gave it to me some years ago. She's owned it since our teens.
It looks great. But it is not a player.
The string tension has always been unplayable for me (and for my sister).

Still, occasionally, very briefly, it sounds really nice!!!!

Edit: I probably should tune it down a bit. And... I've noted that down just now.:whistling:

I had an Ibanez AS73 12. A semi hollow body. Yes. String tension made it difficult. I dropped the strings down to 8s.
