It's cool that Link Wray is again nominated. His song "Rumble" was one I learned to play early on. And he's credited with popularizing power cords in the 1950s. Sister Rosetta Tharpe is a natural for selection and she should have been inducted into the Hall years ago.

these 5 this year wouldn't be a bad thing.... (you're probably shocked that I dont have S. Rosetta Tharpe on my list... well... maybe she'd be better off as an early inlfuence...)

Nina Simone will definitely get inducted I feel, would be cool if Depeche Mode and Dire Strait's got inducted.

How'd i miss Dire Straits on the list ...

I guess we all have our own R&R HOF in our heads and it rarely matches the actual inductee list.

    way out there
I think it's a travesty that Link isn't already in there.
But somehow Kate Bush and Nina Simone are "rock & roll"?

I love Nina Simone. But...when did she put out a rock album??

Jazz Hall Of Fame, yeah, first ballot, no question...

Would love to see Dire Straits in there. Besides the fact that they deserve it, it would be nice to see them all on one stage again. Maybe it might convince Knopfler to give in an do one reunion tour.

Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood is rock and roll when the Animals do it! and they play it her way!

If the Cars are rock and roll then certainly Kate Bush is... the whole Hounds of Love album (granted the only one that got any major USA attention in her decades long career) rocks through and through....

I think a broadly drawn definition of Rock and Roll, (after all Metallica is pretty far from Louis Jordan, an architect of rock and roll if there ever was one) serves us all...

when i was running record stores back in the old days, i came to really hate categories... the only category i wanted was the alphabet... which would only excludes Prince during that one phase in his career when he was a symbol... (a very funny move which i wholeheartedly supported at the time)

That's kind of what helped destroy Danny Gatton. No one ever knew how to categorize his records. Was it Country? Rock? Jazz? Rockabilly? Sometimes it must have been a curse for him to be so good at so many different genres. I think The Hellecasters probably had the same issue.
