Is it an anomaly? Red=hot, blue=cold. Mixed together they become purple. A paradox of sorts. Isn't ultraviolet (light) purple? I'm in way over my head here but where does this fit into the prismatic scheme of things?

Purple is a totally phenomenological event, taking place entirely within the brain. Well, all color is really. Well everything is except mass and extension, I suppose.

We see red because a beam of light at a certain wavelength hits our receptor (rods for low light, monochromatic vision, and cones for 'color'). A 'red' light beam stimulates molecules in the cell that are only sensitive to that frequency range, which sends a signal to the brain. The signal it sends is not 'red', it's 'I've been triggered'. If red cone and a yellow cone are fired, you 'see' orange as the red and yellow cones may be fired at the same intensity.

Science becomes metaphysics at that point as to how we perceive - anything really. However, there is no frequency of light that corresponds to purple. It's just the way our biology interprets the incoming waveform(s). It just 'seems' purple.

I suppose if we had different biology, we could see color beyond blue and red, the frequency range of light is extreme. Even if an alien can see other colors, there would be no way to describe them to us, and the other way around.

So then who did I see back in '75? Deep Red and Deep Blue?

We can discuss the Additive and Subtractive systems until we're cyan-magenta in the face...

    In other news...
Stratolaunch has flown. Wing span the length of a football/futbol field...six, count 'em, SIX jet engines...
This sucker is really really big...

Has to be, it's made as a platform to launch satellites into orbit.
