So lately I have been messing with some R&B. Some of these rap guys are employing some guys with some nice chops! Real tasty playing going on in songs like Neighbors know my name by Trey Songz and stuff like Wicked Games by The Weeknd, no E.

I know this typically ain't strat talk's cup of tea, but guitar is still breathing in other types of.music aside from the blues. So post your favorite R&B progression!!!

    I'll start!!! Dmin7-Amin7-A#Major7!!!!

I've been fooling around trying to get a tune worked up, going Am7, Dm7, Fmaj, Fm7, Em7, then back to the Am7. The slide down from the Fm7 to Em7 probably shouldn't work, but it does, at least for me, and induces some pretty nice melodic stuff over the top of it. YMMV.

if you didn't come to rock, then roll.

Very nice, both of these have got me working on the "caged" system, and hearing the subtle differences in the various chord voicings.

I'm not familiar with any of the artists you guys mention, but these chords are working beautifully in blues progressions, I think the term used is "sophisticated blues".

I agree with you Hoobillac, the guitar is alive and well, and reports of its death have been greatly exaggerated.

    Cheers.

Current R&B is for sure the future of new guitar heights, in MY humble opinion. Artists like Trey Songz and The Dream have made an entirely new section of people pick up the six strig. And the girls are eating that stuff up right now

One that I learned from member here, I can't remember his name. Thanks for whoever it was

Bmin7(Maybe it was a diminshed chord, but I like the bar on the 7th fret)-Gmaj7-F#Aug7
