I was gifted 4 Shure 545sd mics. I want to use them for VERY simple recording- on the amp and as a vocal mic.
Anyone use these for these purposes and have any advice about positioning, etc. I know the room will play a large part of positioning, in generally, what is a good position to begin with?

    Are they low impedance ?

The low impedance versions of the 545 series are essentially the same as an SM57, so would be used in the same manner as a '57.

The proper way to use any 545/57 is close up, no real room issues when close miking.
Stick it right up in the grille near the center cap of the speaker.
If it's too bright move off center a bit. (shouldn't really have to)

They are dual impedance set to low from the factory. Thanks for the response.
