I am saving up for a warming neck, but not strat-style. It’s going on my upgraded Squier. The Squier has fender pickups and other hardware, but the same Squier body. The only original parts are the body, neck, and jack connection. Is it fair if I replace the neck and put a fender logo on the headstock?

fair? its not a matter of being fair or not. in alot of peoples eyes, its not cool to brand something it isnt. too many people nowadays are trying to rip people off that way.
on the other hand, its your stuff. do what you want. but if you ever try to sell it as a fender, may you internally combust and burn.

Only if it's not spelled right, it has to be pretty far off. Something like, "Squier."

If you put a Porsche engine in a Yugo, is it ok to try to sell it as a Porsche?

Will it make you feel like a pro if it says Fender on the headstock?

I don't put any logo's on the necks that are aftermarket, I could care less if it says anything on it. I actually think it gives the guitar a bit of mystery. But it's cool you are making your own creation, have fun with it.

I have bought 2 MIM necks that say Fender on them, and I use them. They are both partscasters. I won't sell them period.

If it’s only for your own personal use then probably ok I guess. But I don’t see why ‘fender’. IF it was me I’d come up with something original like ‘eat me’ or ‘suck on this’...etc.
