A guy that owns TWO Pintos! Two door and a wagon. Jealous.
When they came out...
I peddled my GTO...
Bought the first that hit the twin cities...
The one that had the itty, bitty Cortina motor & drum brakes..
Really sucked to drive when it was 40 below...
Had a space blanket to pull over my lap...
You're right you don't see that every day. A lot of those were cut up in the 80's for use at the race track in the baby bomber class. They are getting rare to see, and somewhat collectible now. Whodda thunk it?
arent those the ones that would supposedly explode when rear ended?
Yup, or at least catch on fire.
Awesome at any speed.
I only knew one kid that had a Pinto in High School. He was killed in it.
I had a Pinto Squire Wagon in the mid-80’s. Drove across the country in it. Total POS. Trying to get it to make it across the Rockies was an adventure I hope to never re-live.
They all rusted out here...
Yes, the 5 MPH bumper’s shocks would explode piercing the gas tank.
All but the wagon.
And the 2.3 could become a real screamer with the right modifications- turbo charging for one.
I drove a really nice looking one back in the late 80s when a friend was looking for a car. I swear it wouldn't go over 50.
My dad got a used one - a Runabout - when I was a kid (I think before I had my license - don’t remember driving it). Ugly brown thing that reeked of stale cigs. I don’t think we had it long...
One of those cars from my youth, that I'd love to actually have another.
Had a friend in the UK that had one, didn't travel well (across the pond), that smelled of cats p*ss, not sure if that was US or UK p*ss, did they spray it before exporting it?
Whoa, I had a Pinto Wagon. I called it my Pintobago.
I had a friend in high school who had exactly those two cars simultaneously.
Useless Trivia: I read somewhere that the Pinto (not the station wagon) is actually more aerodynamic going backwards than forwards.
Dirt modified big block class Pinto
Lots of Vega’s , Pinto’s , & Gremlins were used up here in Orange County Fair Speedway .
my friend had one in high school he was one of the first of us to drive so we used to pile about seven of us into the thing, we used to call it the "Squinto"
