Dang it.. when it first went up I couldn't see any way to actually vote though the list was there.. figure it would get sorted out and waited. Too long apparently..lol

Congrats to whoever came up with "writers on the storm" for the win!

We here on the crew of team "The Notepad" are thrilled for your success... honest.

    Sooo...
As much as nobody ever wants to admit it, there's a thing about songwriting and publishing ...

    $.

Unlike other collaborative creative efforts, where the division of credit and the evil green is formalized, generally in writing, in any proportion agreed upon by those involved...

the accepted convention in songwriting is equal division of credit and proceeds regardless of the degree of contribution. Meaning that if I chime in and suggest a change of something like

    "Ooo-ooo-ooo Baby"
    to
    "Oh-Oh-Oh Baby"

and the composer lets it in, I will have just earned a full share.

There are a few in the business who actually prey upon those new to the magic and excitement of actually getting a song noticed.

These few P.O.S. creeps, having weaseled their way into a session somehow, will offer a minor change, usually a single word...

which is always something that the creator won't be offended by or argue about, because the creep has, after all, just offered to help out, being the seasoned pro ...

and unbeknownst to the writer, will demand and receive an equal share of the "splits".

for a song that gains some notoriety, that can be a lot of $.
A lot of money out of the pocket of a first time published writer...into the hands of the lowest form of slime in existence.

    Soooo...

How will the splits get credited here?

    Something to consider.
    sorry.
