    I'm thinking really faded Daphne.
After all, it's from 1965, yes?

I think for £45,000 it should be made of gold.

Anybody seen pics of any other pre cbs " original " Daphne blue strats, they must be extremely rare. I certainly can't recall ever seeing one described as such.
I thought the blues, reds and greens came in three varieties around 65.
Pastel colours in Sonic Blue , Surf green and Fiesta Red.
Deeper colours in Daphne, Foam Green and Dakota Red
Metallics in Lake Placid Blue, Candy Apple Red and Sherwood Green.

I love Sonic Blue until it starts to "green" up. Then its fugly. JMO

Seems expensive for a 65. Markets are not exactly going up these days

A mint '65 Sonic Blue with all case candy... I don't think the price is that crazy.
Did you have a look at the condition of the guitar? It's almost museum grade...

I'm sure there's a formula written down somewhere...that gets from refin at £8000 to this one at £44,000.

Has to be mathematical surely, not emotive? :)

Of course it's emotive and market driven, and based on that it's purely mathematical :D

Never seen a 65 sell for 45000 USD let alone British pounds. Not even close even at the top of the market 2007

I have seen enough pre-cbs strats sell for 45k and much more at the top of the market. Mary Kays, Shoreline Gold and rare custom colours... More than once.
45k is a realistic advertising price for this one if 100% original (which I don't doubt if ATB advertises as such). Even if it's a '65 with already some less desirable parts like the white pickguard and "F" neck plate. Probably will sell in the 30s.

I absolutely love Sonic Blue. It’s my favourite of the Fender pastel colours.

I’m surrounded by artists and designers (wife & family) but I don’t have a super discerning eye however... I find Sonic Blue is a cool colour and Daphne is a warmer shade. It’s also difficult to assess the older guitar colours because the lacquer will yellow and turn the blue into a green.

Ok, no more doubts for me. The ATB guitar is Sonic Blue...
Best way to verify is to find a real one from back in the day and compare. So, here Ike's Sonic Blue...

yeah, I mean colors change with time, smoke, sunlight, you have to always look at the original in it's original state, or close to it.
