Rather than clogging up the Challenges with unrelated videos or starting a new thread each time I post, I figured I'd just create my own thread and use it for posting whatever. I do a lot of covers so there will probably be a bunch of those but I'm working on application of theory and modes so I may post up something I'm working on and seek some advice. Don't expect perfection as I rarely get through a song without some flub here and there. I'll always welcome criticism but hopefully we can keep things fun. If my previous threads are any indication, this will be on page 3 in a day :D

Anyhow, here's my first video. Some of you may be aware that I love metal and Metallica in particular. In one of the recent challenges I posted up a part of a Metallica song which sparked me relearning this one which I hadn't played in a few years. I'm using a bass/drum/vocals backing track tuned down 1/2 step to match my guitar (I'm usually in Eb) played through a Boss eBand.

I recently joined a cover band so I'm learning a bunch of new songs. I was able to find backing tracks for many of them and loading them on my looper is a great way for me to practice when not with the band. I video myself a lot to better hear if I'm playing things correctly. This thread went largely unused so I figured I'd resurrect this dead thread and use it to post some of those videos for critique, general amusement, or just a single place to keep them all.

This is a song that in 100 years I'd never have learned if not for the band. It's called Bittersweet by Big Head Todd and the Monsters (who I vaguely recollect from the 90s). It's a bit of a departure from what I normally play but it's got a decent groove. I need to tighten it up a bit but here it goes. I'm not terribly happy with the chorus sound (it's an old CS-9) but it's the only one I've got at the moment.

Critique, tips, observations, whatever is of course welcome.

For anyone like me who didn't know the original song, here it is:

Nice! I had no idea who did the first song...google is my friend.

Big Head Todd. I always thought he was a pretty fair picker...I enjoyed your cover.

Thanks guys. Since the intent with these songs is to play them live, any comments and criticisms is welcome. I'd rather polish them up here than in front of an audience

Another quick one from tonight if you're in the mood for some Beatles. This one has a surprisingly tricky ascending lick on the chorus. I think I'm still playing it a bit stiff.

Another cover (surprise) that I'm working on with the band. This one is a right hand workout for me although I need to tighten up the chord changes at the "All the time..." part of the chorus. With the band I'll be doing the lead fills during the outro but this backing track is rather bare and it sounded empty without the rhythm guitar. That's where I need the most work on this one anyhow.

Thanks JJ. Bouncy certainly is a good way to describe it. That's Listen to the Music by The Doobie Brothers. You should check them out. Very good 70s band.

I had remembered seeing these some time ago and figured I'd post them here for you. I know Rat Fink isn't a Mouse but you can't have your cake and eat it too.

Thanks Mike. Yeah, there's a bunch of stuff I'm playing now that I definitely wouldn't have tried if left to my own devices. In a year from now I'm going to be like an old 70s FM radio :p

I need to pop in this forum more as well. There's some great original music posted up that sadly only gets a few views.
