It wouldn't be an HBO show if it didn't have nudity in it. That's their trademark basically
Tonights episode (S2E8) has to have been one of my favorite episodes of the season. That was just some seriously great storytelling.
Can't wait... but I have to... 14 more hours!
That was just about the awesomest thing I’ve seen on TV in a long time.
I don't usually stop and watch while walking by, but that episode had me stopping.
Fantastic episode. Absolutely stunning on a visual and storytelling level. LOST needed an ep like this.
Got to see it last night. Great episode.
Must . . . not . . . read. Only . . . just finished . . . Season 2-Episode 5.
They're all dead and in the afterlife .
Haha , no, that would be way too hokey
I sort of liked the brutality - ****ing androids.
It is strange what keeps me rocking these days. I like Westworld.
All the best,
UM, no, good shows is their trademark basically.
THAT was a GREAT episode. Layered, compelling, and inventive storytelling. Very touching.
Better than Deadwood. Better than The Sopranos. More to my taste than GoT. This
season is a Dunkathon .
There's no deny in that they do some really good shows, I never argued that! But it's been known for a long time that nudity is one of their trademark's in almost every show they do. And I'm comparing to other streaming services such as Amazon, Netflix and such.
They use swear words too.
Oh come on now, I'm not prude I just stated a fact.
Personally I could give a rats pa-toot about either. In my mind fixating on that as something any more manipulative or useful than excellent writing/production is almost overly reductive. Especially given the nature and theme of the show itself. JMHO of course.
@Guy Named Sue
I’d agree with your statement. From the Sopranos at the Bada Bing and GOT well anywhere on GOT.
The first season of Westworld did have a lot of nudity but the second has almost none. Most of the nudity is in the repair shop when the “Hosts” are being repaired. It seems they can only fix them naked. But now that the “Hosts” are killing all the humans nobody repairs them so there’s not much nudity.
Oh wait they do go in the basement where all the old “Hosts” are stored and there are hundreds standing around like statues in their Birthday suits.... ah never mind just disregard this post ...
Actually I think the nudity in Westworld served an important purpose. As I have said earlier this show draws a lot of parallels between biblical stories and Jungian Archetypes. You could easily see that Anothony Hopkins is playing the role of God and Ed Harris is the Devil, the rider in black.
The nudity in the first season hints to early genesis story of Adam and Eve before they had eaten the apple from the tree of knowledge. God discovers this as one day he sees Adam covering up his genitals and appearing to be uncomfortable with being naked and visible. God proceeds to ask him why he has covered himself up, to which Adam answers I feel ashamed. God then asks, Well how do you know that you should feel ashamed?
There's even a scene, I can't remember the episode, in first season where I think Dolores is sent back due to malfunction, one of the tech workers is working on her system and has covered her naked body with a blanket. A moment later Hopkins comes in and sees this and becomes furious, asking who covered her up? Who's idea was it? And demands that she should be totally naked.
This is a sort of control to the extent that it could show when the host's are becoming fully self-aware. I should state that I was paraphrasing the Adam and Eve story.
I didn't say or mean anything about prudery. Cussing is also one of HBO's "trademarks".
Which, along with nudity, is neither here nor there in regards to the quality of their programming.
....and we get to see the good, the bad, and the ugly
