IMO, one of the best rock instrumental songs ever and one of my favorite songs The Who play live. Inspired by the Live at Leeds version.

A ton of mistakes but this was the best version I was able to capture. It's amazing how nervous you get when you hit the "record" button.

Great effort! Love some Sparks! I can imagine hearing John and Keith in the background, and seeing Rodger on tambourine!!!

Nice job @xland. It's great that you are pushing yourself to play the complete song. Keep at it and that's going to get even better.

    Oh yeah !!!

I'd say Pete himself would be both impressed & flattered at the same time.

A little more time spent on it is all that's needed.

That's cool, now I can learn it by watching you (I'm not above cheating, and taking shortcuts). :thumb:

Thanks for the positive comments and encouragement, I truly appreciate it! I will always be nervous about sharing my progress and playing, I know it's cringe worthy to watch/listen. I don't anticipate playing Red Rocks any time soon but it doesn't seem all that long ago when I didn't even know how to hold a pick.

I'm having a blast continuing to learn to play guitar and I can't tell you how much I appreciate a forum like ST where I can feel comfortable sharing my progress. And I learn from so many great people willing to share their knowledge, that is what makes ST a very special place.

    Thanks again! :)

Good players borrow. Great players steal.

Good work @xland. It take some doing to play a song like that from start to finish, very enjoyable.

Better than I could do. My only advice would be to kill it. Those big blocky open chords are meant to be grabbed by the throat. Attack them with abandon. Who cares if you make a mistake. This isn't prog.

And I should talk. As soon as that record button turns red I freeze up and start thinking.

Yeah learning riffs is one thing, learning a whole song is another.
