    Hi all,

I recently acquired a silver Squier Japanese and I don't think the pickups are original. Anyone got any idea what they are from the attached pictures?

    Any help would be great.

    Thanks

Hi and welcome to ST, Those pickups are not ceramic so they are probably decent alnico.
There's a lot of knowledgeable members here who I am sure will chip in when the xmas
    festivities wear off.

It's hard to tell from the pics, but are the bobbins plastic or fibre? Why do you think that the pickups are not original?

Hi guys.. I guess the guitar is 23 years old I thought that the pickup covers seem too white.. too new. Also the pickups are staggered - the other three Japanese Squier I have all the pickups poles are flat. The pickguard is 3 ply which I thought was weird too.

The whole scratchplate looks like its a new assembly to me. The plastic is the wrong colour for a 23 year old Japanese guitar.

I don't know if the color of the P/G is wrong as my almost 20yo Squier looks very similar:

and my plastic pieces are still very white too....

I also don't think the electronics are original...I could be wrong, but I haven't seen red wires in a Squier...plus the lack of info on the pots...
