I have two of the original pickups from my 74 Strat but not sure how to price them.
Might be interested in them if they are reasonable
Im missing my bridge PU on my 79
If I don't get some info here I'll check out Ebay and Reverb.com to try and get reasonable values --- reasonable meaning prices they actually sold for, not just value listed.
I would think $150-$175 usd each. These look to be staggered poles
Are you sure those are original? I thought they were all grey bottoms throughout the 70's?
I bought the guitar in the 1980s and the only thing that didn't look original was the Schaller tuners on it.
Those look like 57-62's?
Yes, I don't think those are original. Mine from - 77 look like this, grey fibre bottoms with stamped serial numbers.
The information seems to depend on who you ask.
"The flat work (the plastic-ish plate on the bottom of the pickup) is either black or gray. Gray flat work is an indication that the pickup was built sometime between March 1964 and the latter half of 1971. Black flat work indicates that the pickup was built either before March 1964 or after 1971. "
Is there a third one?
Not any more. When I put a Lace Sensor Silver in the bridge position years ago, that got misplaced/lost.
My '77s are the gray, same as Cerb's. What you have is for sure not original equipment.
1974 Strats also came with black bottom pick ups imo they are the real deal.
here is one they are a lot rarer than the grey bottoms
To be 100 percent sure could you please post pics of the wire windings to see the color
here is some talk on The gear page about 70's black bottom pick ups
I'll see if the white "covers" pull off without too much stress. I put them on Craigslist for now but may use Ebay or Reverb.com later.
Craigslist!! I’m going to send you a cashiers check for $1000. Please cash it and keep $300 for the pickups and $200 for your trouble and send me the pickups and the remaining $500. Are we cool?
(I’m kidding of course, good luck with the sale)
LOL, yeah you do have to be careful with it. Funniest thing is where "buyers" tell you " you're crazy to ask that much for it ." My answer, I can charge whatever I want, I own it.
I just sold a set of 74 black bottoms for 400. If they were mine I would ask 150 obo for each pickup. I think at that price you could move them sooner rather than later. GL
That's exactly what I did. But if I don't get much action I'll move the ad to Reverb.com What do you think of the pricing on the neck:
Imo that is a fair and reasonable asking price for that particular neck. GL with the sell
57/62s have cloth covered wiring and rubber spacers instead of springs
